Kzantzakis is oneof the most famous author in Greece. His works are full of philosophicalthoughts. The lecture is about the philosophical background in his works thatwas affected from some important philosophers.

Afroditi Athanasopoulouis Assistant Professor of Modern Greek Literature at the Department ofByzantine and Modern Greek Studies at the University of Cyprus. Her researchfocuses on Modern Greek literary production and criticism of the 19th and the20th centuries, metrical analysis, the teaching of literature and therelationship between Literature and History. She is also interested inLinguistic and Cultural Studies. She is the author of History and Literature inDialogue (in Greek, 2016) and of several papers about various authors andissues of Modern Greek Literature published in journals and collective volumes.She also has been a translator, in part or entirely, of scholarly books fromItalian regarding poets such as Kornaros, Solomos and Kalvos, in collaborationwith reputable Greek publishers such as Crete University Press and the BenakiMuseum. Since 2009, she has been collaborating with the Cypriot Ministry ofEducation and Culture in projects and seminars about the teaching of literaturein school education. She is the author of the new Integrated Programme of Studyof Literature (IPSL) in compulsory education of Cyprus and the head-coordinatorof the team responsible for its implementation in the education system ofCyprus.
